Alarmed by ever increasing number of natural disasters caused by greenhouse effect and ozone layer depletion, the mankind intensifies their efforts in protecting the environment. Careful treatment of nature and historical landscape is important to the improvement of our environment. It is impossible for each and everyone to live in an idyllic cottage in the fresh green countryside. One can argue that multifamily residential buildings and compact construction method are ecologically efficient and nearness of our homes to the place of work or infrastructure reduces traffic pollution. Nevertheless much more can be done for the environment protection through the use of eco-friendly building materials and good thermal insulation.
Energy consumption in Austria
Traffic is responsible for 31% of the energy consumption in Austria and should not be overlooked. But the other third of the annual energy consumption is used for heating and it is here good thermal insulation can prevent unnecessary high heating costs.
